A Very Welcoming Dojo, Where You Learn to Become a Better Person

In that school, many memories were formed there as i learned martial arts. My instructors were friends, yet you respected them. even though you might get a tough class sometimes, you could tell that they cared. In there, you feel like you are a part of a family. I would love to return someday. . .

Tough and very legitimate school to train at !!!

I Have read the other reviews and agree with two-- but the two slamming Master Young are rubbish. Coach Flowers is an orange belt in TKD although a good boxer and coach. Coach Byers is a true Black Belt as Master Young sat on his board and promoted him some 20 years ago. So if Young is not who he says he is guess Byers is not either. I have been with the school since it opened and the only Brown belt that ever left was not taken out by her mother rather dismissed for lack of training and poor attitude. This was

with the blessings of all the other black belts at the school. As far as 2 years to black belt... Not at Masters school.. 4- 5 years minimum. Ask the gal who was booted -she was there 5+ years and never made it. Whoever wrote the poor remarks about young should have their posts removed. They are lies. Great and honest place to train.!!!

I read two of the outrageous posts on this site and all I can say is that neither person has the foggiest idea of who Mr. Young is. He has trained in Texas under Texas Karate Institute and Received ranking from 9th Degree Larry Wheeler to 6th degree! Also voted into the Hall of fame twice and received 7th and 8th degrees there. Get your stuff straight folks. You have slammed a very honorable Teacher who takes his time with his students. Average time to Black belt in his system is 4 years.

My family has been attending Family Martial Arts for over two years. We came to this school after a recommendation from a friend and looking at several other schools in the community. We just love this school and continue to recommend it to our friends. After two years of intensive study I am only a brown belt, and contrary to other posts, could not be a ready for testing as a black belt for several more years. As to the quality of our instruction, I'll let the hardware earned from "A" rated tournaments speak for itself.

What is this place?

When we first started at this school there were two instructors that stood out, Mr Byers and Mr Flowers, however they have since left and now there is no real instruction to speak of. Every other week feels as if there is belt testing so the owner can make money. He isn't even what he claims to be. After extensive searching and speaking with some of his peers and even old instructors I have found that he isn't the rank he claims. I left with my children because he had a 12 or 13 yr old girl teaching advanced and beginner students while he sat in his office.I am through with this place and shall never tell anyone about this school.

I have taken my child to two another schools where her brown belt experience didnt even get me past their blue belt. (MASTER) that's a joke, Young add belts to the his rankings to make more money even though you can test each month for the next belt anyway. Totally non professional with instruction and even leaves the mat to chat with friends and parents while a 12 year old teaches class. Has an adult black belt that can not kick above my knee and has only experienced sparring and fighting with children for the most part and earn his belt after only 2 years of study. Thisw place is such a joke
