What is Krav Maga?
First thing you will notice when you start training Krav Maga is that there are no forms, no Katas and no choreographed moves. Krav Maga takes your natural instincts and movements and turns it into easy to learn and remember, yet powerful and effective self-defense techniques.
There are no rules in Krav Maga. There are 5 main targets we focus on in Krav Maga: eyes, nose, throat, groin and a knee. No matter how strong your opponent is he cannot go to the gym and exercise his eyes , his groin, his knee or his nose.
You destroy one of those targets, you destroy your attacker. Everything around you becomes a weapon: car keys, a pen, a wall.. Every part of your body is a weapon: your knees, elbows, your teeth and even fingernails.
Krav Maga's philosophy is simple: take away the attackers mental will to fight; if that can't be accomplished then take away his physical ability to fight. There is only one objective – Survival.
Many techniques come from Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Karate and even Judo, but they were adopted to work in real situations. If they were too complicated to learn they were simplified, if they were to slow, they were sped up, and if they were not 100% effective they were modified.
Krav Maga practitioners are preparing for real, life threatening attacks. Attacks that will come unexpected and from any situation. Carried out by two, three, or even more attackers. Attackers that will be armed with weapons: a stick, a knife or even a gun. We learn how to defend from the ground, standing or in a clinch at real close quarters ranges. We learn how to fight after being totally exhausted and learn how to fight for our lives if the need warrants; and we never quit because if you quit while trying to fight for your survival you can loose more than a tournament or your pride.
Our motto: minimal engagment, maximum devastation, and immediate retreat.
