If you're looking to fight in tournaments or grapple with your enemies on the floor, then this is not the place for you. This is a school for pure self defense in the most practical sense. Combat Hapkido (one of the course that the instructor, Master David A. Ross teaches) is a streamlined version of traditional hapkido with other eclectic touches that when combined with the quality of experienced instruction that Master David provides, will show you what the yin yang really means if you didn't have a clue. He also teaches Shaolin Kempo Karate and woman's self defense. I help out with the kids kempo class and they have it down, and everyone is having fun. This is one of those times where it's "hidden quality". Most people are looking for good schools (facade and all), and not good instructors. I recommend going to his website for more detailed information, www. dynamicdefenseconcepts. com, Great instructor, really breaks it down, operates right out of the Y in downtown Concord, NH. Sincerely, Steve Gary
This is a wonderful self defense program conveniently located right inside the local YMCA. Combat Hapkido is a unique style for the Concord area that focuses completely on self defense, without flashy, tournament orientated moves that will likely get you hurt when trying to defend yourself. Master Ross gives you more than your money's worth with a focus on great instruction in technique and application with a style grounded in physiology and psychology. Best of all, this is not an exercise program! You make the most effective use of your time by learning and practicing the techniques in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. You're learning a martial art, not attending a group fitness class.
