Don't Trust the Owners at Double Dragon

This place is owned by shady people with even shadier billing practices. Tried to say we agreed to 4 years of tuition payments and keeps threatening us with a lawsuit for upwards of $10, 000 after we left (good luck with that). Also had some scummy lawyer send me a threatening letter for a bad review. I wouldn't trust my children with these people, you shouldn't either.

My children and I have trained at Double Dragon for years, and are all advanced belt levels. My children enjoy the Tae Kwon Do curriculum and I am enrolled in Hap Ki Do classes. The instructor, Mark Teele, is tough but very fair and good. His knowledge of martial arts is unrivaled, and he strives to continue learning and passing on that information to his students. We love the family atmosphere and enjoy assisting the students, and working with the parents. I investigated, and continue to evaluate the other martial arts schools in Houston and from what I have seen I remain committed to training at Double Dragon for life.

Terrible School! Do not enroll at Double Dragon!

Mark Teele is an immature, vindictive prat!

He is so disorganized and rarely knows what is going on. He lets his Jr Black belts run the classes (they're only like 10 yrs old) and all they really do is bully everyone and punch them. Mark's emotions are extremely unpredictable - one day he's laughing and everyone is having a great time, but the next day he's screaming at the kids and they're terrified of him. When one of the parents called him out on it, he laughed it off and told her she was welcome to leave.

His knowledge of the technical aspects of poomsae is lacking. He has no idea why the judges at the tournaments are constantly marking deductions for his students.

Mark is unethical, as evidenced by the fact that he left the 2015 state tournament before all his competitors were finished. One of his coaches still had an event and was left without anyone to coach him. This left that coach unable to compete. That coach left the school over this and now Mark is attempting to bring legal action against him.

Another student decided to leave because she felt like she wasn't getting any real instruction and Mark tried to bring legal action against that family for fees for belt promotion tests that were never conducted.

A third student left in order to find a higher level of instruction in hopes of gaining a spit at Jr Olympics and Mark tried to bring legal action against that family for a year's tuition for the year AFTER their departure. WTF?!?!

I do NOT recommend this school to anyone!

This is not a good school to send your children. The instructor does not care about the children's curriculum. He has lost many of students during his screaming sessions. And his 2 jr. Black belt brother and sister are allowed to bully other children inside the school and continues at the school they attend. When the owner is warned about it he just laughs it off. He won't do anything because he is operating illegal and the father of the bullies is his lawyer who is covering for him because of an lawsuit against him and his former School Jin's Tae Kwon Do!!!! Stay Far away from this man and his school unless you want to strip your kids self confidence. One of his best coaches recently quit because at the State tournament he left him coach less 3 days into the competition. He rushed back to the school before the coach could comeback and trashed and lied about him to all the other students before he got back to do damage control to cover up what he did to him. I think that coach quit. If he would do that to one of his coaches. What do you think he would do to an average student? He also FORCES you to pay for his tournament training. He says you don't have to join it but makes you compete in 2 tournaments to get your black belt. The only way to go to a tournament is to join the tournament team so your FORCES to pay the $275. 00 fee plus the tournament fees. And don't worry if you can't afford that because he MAKES you buy sparring equipment from him. So for $80. 00 of sparring equipment he charges you $275. 25 and if you try to find equipment of better grade but more cost effective he says you can't use it because of insurance purposes which is a flat lie.
