Defiance Karate is a very family friendly atmosphere. The instructors are kind and patient with the kids. The genuinely care about everyone and want to see them succeed. My son has been going here for 6 months and has gained so much confidence. I highly recommend Defiance Karate.

I have one of those strong-willed, never-wrong without a debate kind of kids. The kind that struggle with being “coached” by any adult without showing your qualifications from six different sources HE approves. ;) My goal is to keep the intensity and ability to question and analyze but also be able to listen and pause and accept that someone else may actually be the “master” of whatever topic is at hand. I want him to have the ability to see the bigger picture in life. I believe that karate has done that for him- or at least we are making such progress! The sense of respect and skill hierarchy acceptance has really helped mature him in a way that I’m not sure would have been available without this art in his life. Phil and Sarah have such patience with each child. The classes are fun for him. He looks forward to going. With all that, they instill a personal drive for discipline and a respect of others. I can now negotiate some reasoning about how someone may be ‘higher ranked’ in their knowledge base and should be given respect based on their ‘rank’. I have a “coachable kid” thanks to Defiance Karate!
Enrolled my kids and, after a few months, it seemed like what they were teaching was questionable at best. Did some research and learned it is a made up system and not authentic. Pulled my kids and went to another school that is a bit of drive for us but it was well worth it so they get real martial arts training.
