Will DaSilva, owner and primary instructor of DaSilva's Karate, used to own multiple karate schools and was a national competitor in several martial arts tournament circuits. He retired in the early 2000's in order to pursue a skydiving/piloting career. He always promised himself he would go back to teaching martial arts when his kids were ready to train - that time has come! Mr. DaSilva is now teaching two nights a week and would love to have anyone interested come and join in!
The current training sessions will consist of a mixed martial arts curriculum focused mostly on Tae Kwon Do and Karakempo/Escrima. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean martial art that emphasizes kicking, striking and blocking. Karakempo is an eclectic system that emphasizes on the use of hand techniques in the striking and trapping range as well as the Phillipino style of Kaboran Escrima (stick fighting) and the use of blades.
Since he was eleven years old, Mr. DaSilva has studied under Master Wade Vierra, who is an eighth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a black belt in Gracie Jujitsu and an accomplished full contact fighter. Mr. DaSilva studied Karakempo/Escrima with Master Edward Bansuelo, who is an eighth degree black belt in Karakempo/Escrima. Mr. DaSilva is a fourth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a second degree black belt in Karakempo/Escrima. He has also competed in full contact events, such as boxing and kick boxing.
