Traditional Chen Taiji, is widely acknowledged as the oldest and the ancestor of all other taiji styles. Taiji is a complete system incorporating principles rooted in the various manifestations of the two mutually interacting, yet opposite energies – Yin and Yang (eg. soft and hard, night and day, hot and cold). In Taiji practice, emphasis is placed on relaxing the body while calming and focusing the mind. Taiji movements are performed slowly, accentuating intention, body mechanics, accuracy and fluidity. By practicing in accordance with the principles of softness and hardness, the practitioner will begin to experience strength and efficiency of movement that significantly improves one’s natural ability and structural alignment.
