Shotokan Karate of America
Cordova Shotokan Karate is affiliated with Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), which has been teaching karate in North America since 1955 (www.ska.org). We practice a traditional form of karate that was the first introduced to Japan in 1922. Our chief instructor of SKA is Master Tsutomu Ohshima, the founder of Shotokan Karate in the United States.

In May of 2011, Steven (Steve) C. Ethridge contacted the founder of Shotokan Karate of America (SKA), Tsutomu Ohshima and asked if he could start an SKA dojo. Having obtained permission from Tsutomu Ohshima, as well as permission of Steve's instructor for over 22 years, Robert (Bobby) Bird, Cordova Shotokan Karate held its first practice on July 1, 2011.

Class Details:
Ages — 8 and up – all levels, male and female
When — Monday and Wednesday 6:30p – 8:00p; Saturday 2:00p – 3:30p
Where — Cordova Family YMCA Gym

Member — Individual $60 per month; Family each additional participant $25 monthly
(Must be on same YMCA family membership)
Non-Member — Individual $75 per month; Family each additional participant $35 monthly
Membership in Shotokan Karate of America is required to practice at Cordova Shotokan Karate dojo. Membership dues for new members are $75 the first year. Membership in Shotokan Karate of America must be renewed every January for $100. If you join in the second half of the year you receive a $25 discount on your renewal.
