I am very proud of mr. Shipley I should know I am Master Gary Wayne of the Family Martial Arts Center in Mount Dora Florida and I certified him as an instructor. Mr. Shipley started with me as a white belt and I trained him to black belt and oversaw all of his instructor training as well as his curriculum as methodologies and all program reviews. I can assure you that this man is a caring loving instructor and numbers speak for themselves. Clermont Family Martial Arts Center is the largest school in Clermont for a reason. Don't believe me? Go in and see for yourself !!!. If anyone would like to contact me regarding his qualifications please feel free to call me at 352 383 0898

From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. The dojo is clean and organized. That should tell you that everyone working there takes great pride in the school and what they do for their students. My 9 year old has made some great friends here. We will be here a long time and will be telling all our friends about this school.

Mr. Shipley and his team are amazing!!! They connect with each child and not only teach them martial arts, but discipline and respect too. Everyone is so caring. My son loves coming here. It makes me really happy to see how much he enjoys the classes and how much fun he has every time. Thank you, Mr. Shipley and your team for building great characters in the children of our community!

After having attended another local martial arts school where the instructor did nothing else but yell at our children, humiliate and physically hurt them, my husband and I are so excited to have finally found a martial arts school where we feel our children are safe and are enjoying their classes. The staff tending to our children are really caring and make each class fun. Our children absolutely love it here! Mr. Shipley and his team are a blessing!

After years of supporting and building relationships, Mr. Jim Shipley took advantage of my family's trust. When a disagreement between adults occurred, instead of facing the situation, he avoided the concern and instead punished my children by kicking them out of his dojang one week before one of my children was to test for her black belt. She was distraught! On multiple occasions, he also yelled at my children and they would come home feeling horrible about this treatment. In addition, on several occasions, he would text my wife and said we would need to pick up the kids early but would not give a reason. Often, not keeping the contract that we signed about attending different classes and times. Finally, I was informed that he is not a certified instructor and my children's hard earned belt ranks would not be recognized. This is a travesty to my young children who admired and tried to learn from an individual who had other intentions. Consider other locations before choosing Clermont Family Martial Arts Center.
I have taken my step son to this place for quite a long time and I have spent considerable time watching the students in this facility while waiting for my step son to take his lessons. I noticed that mostly the kids sit around the perimeter of the mat, doing nothing and without supervision!!! Kids are not paying attention and I have seen some groups of kids gang up on other kids while laughing and being mean and sneaky Bully's!! Why aren't these kids supervised? The teachers are talking to each other instead of to the kids and it seems to me that those who are not taking instruction should be doing something instead of being left on their own. Shockingly unsupervised. I think it was the owners little girl running around unsupervised as well, totally unprofessional, she could be hurt running on the mats while the students are kicking. I am looking for another martial arts center for my step son, this one needs an overhaul. It's sad because in the end, I think the training is good, but the supervision is lacking. My step son hates going now, he is one that is being picked at by a certain group of kids. It's time to move on. I could not in good conscience send him to the summer camp this year because of the lack of supervision, I am sure it would have been worse.
