Programs & Class Schedule

Kid-Jitsu (ages 5 - 12)- Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and self defense tailored for youth. We teach takedowns, throws, grappling and submissions, but there is no punching or kicking taught in this class.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) - BJJ is a form of submission grappling. There are two types, with and without a gi (uniform). In both types we train to engage an opponent, take them down to the floor and move into a position where we are able to force them to submit, or “tap out”.

Muay Thai Kickboxing - A martial art from Thailand that uses punches, kicks, knees and elbows while standing or clinched with an opponent. Muay Thai classes are perfect whether you just want an aerobic workout or if you want to learn how to be a competitive fighter.

Taijutsu (all ages) - A martial art that employs unarmed combat that includes throws and strikes, as well as sword techniques, stick and staff techniques, throwing weapons, stealth and more. Taijutsu classes are perfect for those who are looking for the discipline, respect and honor of the traditional martial arts.

Tai Chi Qigong - Dating back approximately 5000 years, Qigong is the process of intentionally gathering, moving and releasing energy. This is accomplished through mental focus, deep breathing and physical movement. This works through relaxation, concentration and alignment. The movements, breathing, and focus found within both systems are designed to give the body and the mind tools by which these three goals
may be accomplished.

Pilates - is a physical fitness system that seeks to increase the strength, flexibility and control of the body. Pilates is a body conditioning routine that helps to not only build flexibility, but also strength, endurance, and coordination in the legs, abdominals, arms
and back.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) - To be an MMA fighter you need to do more than learn how to strike and how to grapple, you need to know how to combine the different arts effectively. In a regular Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class you won't necessarily learn how to submit someone that is punching you, or learn how to stand up from grappling because they
aren't standard skills in BJJ. In a Muay Thai class you won't learn how to kick or punch with the thought that your opponent may try to take you down to the ground, that's not part of Muay Thai.
MMA classes are for students that want to learn how to combine the different arts and become a well-rounded fighter. It is recommended that you have some training in both stand-up and ground fighting before MMA classes.

5 Rounds of Fitness - This is an exercise program that is designed as five rounds, each consisting of 5 minutes, with one minute of rest in between. Everybody exercises at the same time, but each person does a modification of each exercise to their ability. For example: Push-ups- level three is on your knees doing push-ups, level two is a standard push-up, level one is either a diamond or tricep push-up. We work as a group for the social aspect of it and to push each other and hold each other accountable. However, each person is encouraged to push themselves to their own limit, not the limits of those around them.

Cardio Fitness - Running and jogging. We start the Clarion MMA academy at the specified time, but then we either run from there or drive to the University Track or University Rec. Center depending on the weather. We are not a track & field school and are not particularly fast. As a group we tend to max out at 8 - 10 minute miles, but you
are always welcome to run ahead and work at your own speed. If you are new to running and don't think you can keep up, don't worry. Somebody will be with you every step of the way, no matter how slow you go. As long as you are willing try then one of us will be right there with you.
