Do your research on Christopher Geary by googling his name, not just his school. He is considered a joke around town, both by other schools and the legal system for his repeated attempts to sue his own students when he refuses to accept their cancelations.
If you are looking for a teacher will take a smoke break in the middle of your class, you found him!
Prof. Geary's school is not like your typical martial arts school around, and you have to honest with yourself when you sign up. This is a school to learn self-defense for REAL WORLD SITUATIONS. It's not a come and goof around kind of a place. You won't wiz through the ranks and get a black belt in a year to put on your trophy case. But when someone comes to mug you on the streets, do you think they'll care about you doing karate and having a black belt? Not in the slightest. This school is for learning to protect yourself. If there is any downside to Prof. Geary's system is the pace. Most people can't handle going slower and perfecting a technique. But that is also one of the pros too. Prof. Geary cares about his students, and wants them to learn the technique the right way, and then to be able to execute it with lighting speed. So if a situation in real life happens, you will be prepared. This school isn't for everyone. You have to be willing to put in the time and dedication. If you can do that, you can handle whatever life may have in store for you. So, before you sign up for any school, sit down and think about what it is you really want. If you want some colorful belts to show off to your friends, you should look elsewhere. If you want to learn to protect yourself, this is it.
