Our six-year-old son has been attending Chosun Blackbelt Academy for almost two years. In that time, he has steadily moved up the ranks to Little Ninja Brown Belt. He loves attending this academy and especially loves his instructors, all who are kind, courteous and very well trained, not only in Tae Kwon Do, but also helping young children achieve their full potential. We credit Chosun with helping our son become the well-mannered, polite little boy that he is, as well as improving his hand/eye coordination and attention span. We believe by attending Chosun, he is learning many life skills he will carry with him into adulthood. Thanks Chosun!

I've been a student at Chosun for close to six years and I can honestly say, without a doubt, that Chosun Black Belt Academy has become a second home for myself and my daughter (and soon, my son).

When we first came to the school, my daughter and I enrolled in order to start working out more and learn self-defense. I really wasn't sure what I was getting into, as my past experience with martial arts hadn't been a very positive experience. However, after only a few classes, I started to fall into a routine that was very comfortable - and while the workouts themselves were often rigorous and challenging, the manner with which they were taught was clearly done so without judging and with an emphasis on our overall growth - both in terms of understanding the specifics of our techniques, but also in how to better accept ourselves for who we are and what our limitations might be. There was never any feeling that I had to work above and beyond my comfort level - I pushed myself, but only because my Sahbumnim knew I had the potential to do more. Those pushes might have been small at first, but over time, I pushed harder and harder, enjoying class after class with instructors who I soon grew to accept as family.

And it's never felt any different - even after such a long time and I have Sahbumnim Peterson to thank for that.

I am still of the opinion that any school can teach you how to kick or explain self-defense, but what makes Chosun stand out is the quality of the teaching and the feeling that what you're doing isn't simply being done to usher you through belt rank after belt rank - no. Instead, it's the feeling imparted by the instructors that you've truly grown, the idea that you've actually accomplished something and taken to heart not only the techniques in question, but also the overall concept that you're skills have grown stronger. It's not simply about being another number - it's about being part of a greater family, a family that only wants the best for you and wishes to see you become successful in all that you do. When you test and earn your ranks, the feeling of pride you have in yourself is amazing, but the pride that your instructors have for you is even greater - and that's the kind of feeling you won't get at another school.
