The best school for those who are serious about taekwondo

This is the best place to learn good technique and discipline. Master Chai is tough and strict, but he cares deeply about his students and about the integrity of Taekwondo. If you are attentive and do your best, he will never fault you. Often times younger kids have a harder time with the 'no goofing off' policy, but learning focus and self-control is what martial arts are all about! I have not been able to find another school that compares to this one. The only setback is that there are not as many schools that do the ITF forms, as they are taught here, and so you might have to learn new forms or names of techniques if you ever have to switch schools. Also classes are balanced well between hand&feet techniques, forms, and self defense. A good workout all around.

This is an excellent school for students of all ages. Master Chai is really good with preschoolers and youngsters. The previous reviewer made a reference to Master Chai beating students; what utter nonsense. My daughter has been a student there for three years, and I sit in the lobby watching the classes on a large screen television monitor. Master Chai doesn't beat anyone. He is old school, and is serious about what he teaches. There are no short cuts to a promotion here; students are not automatically advanced as they are in other local schools. A promotion here really means something, and is truly earned. The children here learn discipline and hard work, and they take a lot of deserved pride in their accomplishments. They respect and admire Master Chai. He is a fantastic role model. Last week I saw him pause to put a barette that had popped out of a little four year olds hair back in. He has a sense of humor, and really cares about the kids. Master Chai has high expectations for his students, which is as it should be. Kids won't achieve their potential if you don't have high expectations of them. The quality of instruction here is excellent.

A School for Some People

I would not necessairly reccomend this school for kids or pre-teens. Master Chai is extremely strict and sometimes beats you for no good reason. His teaching is very good but I didn't like the way the students were treated. It is probably a better place for adults or teens. It is a place for people who will take Taekwondo seriously and not because their parents will make them go.
