Shotokan Karate-do
This is CBMA, a longstanding member of the Bucks County Shotokan Karate Association. We practice a style of Karate-do originally championed by Master Gichin Funakoshi of Okinawa. Rooted in a foundation of quick, focused, efficient blocks and strikes, the popularity of Shotokan Karate-do has a world-wide reach.
Responsive
Though our roots are similar to that of the Japanese Karate Association, Central Bucks Martial arts has traditionally operated outside that framework, often allowing techniques and applications from diverse styles to be practiced and incorporated into our regular training regimen. So techniques you might see in today's Mixed Martial Arts style competitions have a place in our dojo when it's appropriate.
Flexible
CBMA as an organization believes it's necessary to find the balance most suited to each individual student. For karateka young and old, this means balancing schoolwork, social engagement, training and other varied personal and family interests. There are no harsh penalties for missing a session or two.
