I've studied martial arts my whole life and I was pretty good at it. I took a few classes here and I felt like I had not really been training at all my whole life. This art is more unique and different than any art that exists. The simplicity and complexity of it is intertwined with a seemingly infinite amount of knowlege out there for you to learn. Each and ever class is different!!! One single technique becomes a concept which spins into hundreds and hundreds of different techniques. All from one single idea. Each and every class, I expect to learn something new and see something I never saw before. And I am not dissapointed. Each class, each bit of instruction is precious and filled with experience and knowlege that you can make your own and fit to yourself, regardless of experience and body type. If you want to learn today's idea of MMA, go learn it. But if you want to learn a truly mixed martial art with combat applications, unrestricted by rules of a ring, applications designed to keep you alive in the most dire of circumstances, this dojo is a must. The atmosphere is incredible, the attitudes of the students are amazing. Only high quality persons of character. It makes for an amazing time each day.

Being in Martial Arts for over 30 years I highly recommend Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo!

Are you looking for traditional up-to-date, & current training in traditional Japanese Martial Arts?

In Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo they study and teach nine combat martial arts lineages known as ryūha (6 traditional Japanese Jujutsu Schools and 3 Ninpo- Ninjitsu Schools). Students work with all forms of unarmed combat and weapons as part of the curriculum. Strictly defined, Ninpo Budo Taijutsu consists of combat arts (Budo) though, those arts that have a spiritual component, and which go beyond combat effectiveness and serve the purpose of continual refinement for personal improvement and introspection as a warrior.

Are you looking for spiritual and physical development as well as mental training for learning survival and fighting strategy?

This is what they do and teach!... with integrity and respect while safety and care of students is always taken very seriously during each training.

Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo is not a big commercialized Dojo but rather a traditional Ryuha style dojo. The Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo Instructors do teach in the same manner as Soke and Japanese Shihans Master-teachers from Japan.

Vision and Mission

Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo is traditional Ryuha style dojo designed and created by qualified, highly motivated and licensed Instructors from Shirowashi Hawaii Dojo.

We are jointly committed to teach and study the art with exceptional Integrity and high level of commitment to teach our students in the same manner as our Japanese Shihans Master teachers and our Soke from Japan.

Reputation for excellence, integrity, loyalty, spirit of cooperation perpetuated through quality growth of the Dojo and promotion of the nine combat martial arts lineages known as (ryūha) are priorities and commitments of our leadership (Shihan and Shidoshi level of instructors) and the managing team of high black belt level of instructors.

I highly recommend Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo!

Authentic Ninjutsu Training in Oahu

I was first introduced to Bujinkan through Shihan Prather of the Yamaneko Dojol. He informed me that for quality training on Oahu I should find Shihan Frasier, he was "the real deal." I did just that in early 2012. Classes are small and regulated, anyone with a criminal background cannot train as per Bujinkan regulation and there is an interview process. Immediately, I found the training and the instructors to be both realistic and effective, in addition there was no attitude of superiority or dissension between students. Attitudes are left off the mat. The training sessions are hard and somewhat freeform, instructors will begin with a kata and allow it to develop on its own as the class progresses, so you never know where the class will end up. There are strikes and takedowns involved, as well as the use of weapons, but the entire class is watched over and the students carefully mentored by the senior instructors. I have yet to see anyone seriously injured during class as a result of practicing the techniques. Based on the real world applicability of the movements and the quality of the instructors, I would recommend this dojo to anyone looking to train in Japanese self defense and/or close-quarter combat.

I have trained in different arts and have truly fallen in love with Ninpo. Since day one the movement and style is like no other. There is a fluidity that Ninpo commands that is hard to find in other arts. I would highly recommend this dojo to anyone truly interested in learning the art of the Bujinkan.

Japan-style, up-to-date, & current training, yet in English! Fun bunch of people and can be heck of a workout. If you want to experience what it is like to train with the high ranks in Japan, without all the "ego cloud stuff" of the foreigners (like sometimes in Ayase training), Hawaii is the place, & these guys hold the torch. True life skills martial arts.-Andre Carreira, Kaaawa, Hawaii, Shidoshi, formerly with David King's Hawaii Bujinkan Taijutsu Shibu.

True Martial Art

I've had the privilege of studying with the Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo for the last year or so, this dojo upholds the highest ideals of the Bujinkan system. The Shihans and Shidoshis train with integrity and respect, the safety and care of students is always taken very seriously during training. I choose this school because the Budo Taijustu training focuses more on combat as a form of self-defense and survival skill as oppose to competition or athletics. I recommend Bujinkan Hawaii Dojo to anyone wanting to dedicate themselves to a truly practical martial art.
