Breaux Martial Arts Institute is an American Shotokan Ju Bushi Do Karate school. BMAI's curriculum consists of 5 principles. The first is sparring. Sparring is striking one’s opponent with kicks and punches, as well as defending those strikes. To do so while moving, countering, evading, and invading. The second principle is Kata. Katas are traditional forms derived from Tradional Shotokan Karate. They also help to improve upon one’s focus, intensity, memory, physicality, and balance. Third is Self Defense. Self Defense is practicing specific techniques that are vital in a real life situation. The fourth is Takedowns. Takedowns are used to bring one’s opponent to the ground by means of sweeps or throws to gain a dominant position. The last principle is Grappling. Grappling is to quickly control one’s partner on the ground and then submit them. All classes are currently taught by BMAI's owner and operator, Casey Breaux. Casey Breaux has 11 years of Martial Arts experience and 6 years of Martial Arts teaching experience.
