Best taekwondo school in the area!

My son earned his black belt at a different taekwondo school. After he achieved that rank he decided to look at other martial arts to add. We searched for months and we happened upon Boyingtons Taekwondo Academy. He did his 2 week trial period and never looked back! He LOVES all the instructors at BTA. When he achieves something at home he asks me to take a video or photo and send it to Mr Boyington. After I earned my black belt in the same school as my son did I decided to join BTA as well. I love my children and only want the absolute best for them. ....BTA is THE BEST in town. I am also a child care provider and understand how to interact with children. The level of instruction is phenomenal. I've never heard or seen Mr Boyington treat ANYONE with anything other than respect. In reference to John Q Publics comments. .....number one. ..the school has only been open for 2 years so to say he has 5 plus years experience at this school is not true. It is sad this day and age that someone can go online and slander a business for no real reason. Number 2, in regards to the tournaments. ...yes Mr Boyington asks for students to participate. However, it is for the betterment of the student, he is always trying to provide them with opportunities they wouldn't get elsewhere. What John Q Public doesn't say is that EVERYONE at BTA has the children's best interest at heart. ..Mr Boyington plans outside fundraisers for the kids to get to the tournaments, outside activities for the families to be more connected ect. I will, and do recommend this school highly! It is difficult. ..but the instructors set achievable goals for each child. In this world there are only few people who truly do what they do for the betterment of our next generation. ....this dojang is one of them. Everything they do it to help the next generation be strong, self reliant, productive young men and women. Come in and see for yourself. ..the first week is always free!

Best place to Train TKD!

My son has been training at BTA for over a year now! I could not be more proud of how far he's come in such a short time!! I want to thank all the wonderful instructors at BTA! For helping change my son and family's life for the better. Thank you for not allowing my son to give up on himself! When things got more challenging! BTA is a place to train TKD and you will be pushed to do your absolutely best. If that doesn't sound like what you want in TKD then don't join! If you want top notch TKD instruction then BTA is the right choice and Place for you. I just want to take a moment and say I never ever heard Mr Boyington or the other instructors ever belittle any of the students adults or kids! In the time we have been at BTA!

BTA Strives For Excellence

I earned my 1st Dan Kukkiwon black belt from Master Ki Young Hwang from Premier TKD in Bangor back in 2011. Shortly thereafter, Master Hwang moved out of state. It was very difficult for me to find a dojang that was up to Master Hwang's standards. There were so many schools in the area that were watered down and lacked basic etiquette. I was looking for a TKD school that swayed more toward the traditional Korean curriculum and styles. After three years of searching, I finally met Mr. Boyington who was just starting up his own school. From the very first day I joined, I felt immediately at home. I have never heard Mr. Boyington name call or berate any of his students, including his own children. Mr. Boyington wants to create opportunities for his students that they wouldn't get anywhere else. BTA strives for excellence and pushes their students to work hard to earn their ranks. BTA is not a daycare and it doesn't exist to coddle kids; it is a serious martial arts school with dedicated instructors who hold the students to very high standards. To those who are making negative reviews, you should understand that martial arts is not for everyone it's okay to move on with your life.

I don't know who John Q Public is, but obviously he has something against the school. I have never heard Mr Boyington or any other instructors belittle anyone.

First off, in reference to John Q Public's review, I have been studying at BTA since it's inception in 2013 and have never heard Mr. Boyington speak ill of any of his students. In my experience he has always been cordial to all who participate in classes there. Of course he encourages tournament participation, because he believes in his students and wants to see them succeed. If you actually take the time to get to know Mr. Boyington you will find he is one of the most generous people around.

I would encourage anyone who wants to experience martial arts to come give it a try and make your own decision. The first week is always free, and the prices are the best around for the product you receive.

Bruce Boyington is an ass and a shallow fake instructor

Mar 27 2016 by John Q Public (Former Student with 5 - 10 Years Experience at this school)

No!

Mr Boyington has quite the public persona, but in private is heard berating his own children for how they are dressed saying they look like a "homeless person". He is arrogant and if you join his dojang for anything other than tournament participation, he bullies and berates you until you do go to tournaments. He is a great example of exactly how a martial arts instructor should not be: a shallow, arrogant, bully of epic proportions. Will never attend or recommend him again.
