This is one of the oldest dojo in New York with a core of Yudansha with a variety of backgrounds in various approaches to Aikido and with varied experience in other martial arts. Because the organization is all volunteer and not-for-profit the membership is really only focused on Aikido and related martial arts training. There is no other motive. Several other related martial arts are practiced. Eishin Ryu Jujitsu is a sister dojo housed in the Bond Street dojo and there are study groups for Katori Shinto Ryu and Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido. There is a good balance of open hand and weapons practice and a strong connection to the study of the roots of Aikido and the fundamentals of the art.
For a beginner, this is a place where you came come to and learn with patience and respect from the instructors. A super clean and beautiful Dojo that has an atmosphere for the perfect mindset. Great ambiance and a great experience.
