I've been training at Bastos BJJ for over a year but I trained elsewhere for 11 years and this place is world class! Bastos BJJ has legit world champions teaching and my Jiu Jitsu has elevated because of Professor Bruno and everyone else that I train with. If you're looking for a place to train whether you live in Midland or just here visiting, Bastos BJJ is the place to go!

I've been training here for almost a year. The format is old school- you drill, you roll, you drill. The emphasis is on mastering technique, and then applying those skills in a respectful competitive format. Higher belts spend part of their training mentoring lower belts. The team advances as a team. Going to sanctioned tournaments is always encouraged as a way to promote focus and skill. I could not be happier than with this coaching staff and team. If you are serious about mastering Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this is the place. They offer a free trial period, so you can see if this gym is right for you.

I have visited Perez Martial arts and Mr perez didn't even teach the class, he just told me I could not go anywhere else if I joined his gym, and it was being taught by a morbidly obese guy who only rolled with smaller guys he could bully.
I went to Another place on Cuthbert at Mathews Martial Arts, and same thing, HUGE fat guy teaching, no real technique, and no one so far at either school had any real experience in competition.
I had a buddy in town from dallas and he told me he wanted to go to Bastos while he was here, and I didn't even know Bruno taught here. When we went it was completely different.
- Welcoming atmosphere
- Championship level instructors
- NO EGO
- People wanted me to learn technique over strength
It was a no brainer.
This instruction is taught by World Champions as well as you get to train with the high level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners. The classes are catered to your skill level and you control the pace of which you learn. It is never too late in life to start and I must admit it is addicting when you you start seeing results in just the first month.
The Bruno Bastos team is first rate.
