i am so thankful to have placed him in a martial arts school that genuinely cares about each student and their needs. basche’s martial arts school has helped my son gain confidence, stay focused, have self-discipline, be respectful, and he has a great time learning how to defend himself!

if you or someone you know was thinking about joining a martial arts school, i highly recommend basche’s martial arts!

My son started at this school back in the spring. He has learned to focus more which also helps in school. I think sensei Basche does a great job keep the kids motivated to learn self defense and respect. Basche martial arts is a great place. I encourage you to try it out for your kids or even yourself!

Fraud martial arts instructor, not real rank

This guy claims Joe Lewis promoted him, LIE. He claims master rank. LIE. He has no official rank certification from anyone and also teaches a bullcrap made up system that no one recognizes. He shows up at tournaments and acts like he is all this and that but never competes. He is completely a McDojo. ..a place that sells lies and rips of students. Find a real school, a school teaching a real martial art and one that has actual certificates that prove their rank and experience. There are so many better places to train in our area than jokers like this.

Looking into the facility it looks professional. Although, I am wondering why the students are sometimes slipping on the floor. There are no mats or at least they were not made available to the students that day. The class started and the students looked very respectful when class commenced. Another younger student was teaching the class. I asked the person observing next to me if this was typical. They had observed class twice and said it had been taught by another student or a higher ranking person such as the black belt. I felt this was odd since I was there to observe someone teaching with years and years of experience. I did not see this when I was there and apparently neither had the person next to me. Why would I pay a monthly fee to be taught by someone that had minimal experience? I wanted to be taught by someone who had quite a bit of knowledge. the belts that were learning at this class varied. .. belts were different colors. I would of thought that all belts of a certain color advance together. Guess I was wrong. I didn't like the floor as some students slid or got toes stubbed and were in pain.

When I pay for my child to go to training here I erect him to be trained by a qualified instructor and not other student that aren't even black belts. When I asked Mr. Basche about this he said it was only in warm up. However, my son told me it is during the entire class and he Basche only makes an appear appearance during the session That's not what I'm paying for! Needless to say I won't be renewing his classes.

My son and I started with Sensitive Basche a while ago. Everything was going well, then my work schedule went off the wall. We missed classes and I missed appointments with Sensai. Through it all he was there, patiently waiting for my crazy life to settle down. Then I suffer an injury. Sensei is there once again. He tells me to bring in a doctor's note and he would rewrite the contract for my son. I don't see how anyone could say he is money hungry or uncaring. His former dojo was older but kept clean and neat. His new dojo is bigger, newer and immaculate. I still take my son to his classes and find myself wishing my injury never happened so I could participate too.

SENSI BASCHE Runs a Money Pit Not a School!!!!!

We were happy with the initial month so I decided to sign my son up, but when we were told it was $150 a month- I took the "good deal" and paid for a full year (over $1500) to save . We were happy with my son's behaviors improving. NOT EVEN 2 months into the year I was told that my son was "getting bored" and needed to move up to the next class. In order to do that I had to sign up FOR ANOTHER YEAR! I was told he (STEVE BASCHE) wasn't going to waste the effort of training these kids if they aren't committed. I wasn't committing my kid to 2 yrs- 1 year was bad enough. I would have no problem paying for equipment but to get over $3000 from me in a couple of months wasn't going to happen. My son stayed in the same basic ("boring" per sensei) class for the entire yea. I also don't think everyone pays the same price. The prices aren't posted anywhere and I feel we were sized up by what we drove and did for a living. While there were some positives, the shady business/ money practices will keep me from ever recommending the. The other employees were great. Sensei has some issue. Beware!! Prices Are Not Posted!!!!

Very Unorganized & Filthy!

My daughter wanted to start training in Martial Arts. We went to several schools to meet with Instructors and visit the facilities. We called first and waited 2 days for a return call. The instructor was very informative on the telephone, however he acted as if we were going to be signing up and paying that day. I explained that we would be visiting several schools before making a decision. I read the prior reviews before visiting Basche's facility and we went in with an open mind however, the facility had a terrible stench (like locker room) and was very dirty! (The same as what other reviews said) The instructor was very unorganized and tried to pressure me into paying him that evening and signing a contract. Many times I told him I would not be doing that and when I finally got through to him he seemed to be uninterested in speaking with us any longer. We ended up leaving. My daughter is now enrolled in a different Martial Arts facility in Fort Wayne and so far so good!!!!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

Do not waste your time your children's time or your money on this place! He doesn't clean the mats or equipment, my son ended up with ringworm (the same fungus that causes athletes foot). He will undermine the parents decisions every chance he gets. He is unorganized, and inconsistent. Tells/yells at the students to be on time BUT has been 10-15 minutes late to a half hour class many many times! He also will end class early like 30, 20, 15minutes. He actually canceled a 30min class because the kids were not yelling, but they were trying their best! He has hissy fits when the children need to use the restroom, doesn't have a locker room or any where to change which means if you have kids that go to the 4 o'clock class and get out of school @ 3:30 like mine then they are stuck changing in the van, or asking the family dollar ladies to use their restroom, and they are sick and tired of his *** as well! He told the kids it was their job to bring in new people, I'm sorry but he doesn't work anywhere else and can do his own leg work! And I know that most martial arts instructors are religious but he shoves it down their throats and I'm sorry but not everyone is religious like that. I'm the parent not Steve Basche!!

He at one time actually taught them to make excuses for their behavior. He actually argued with me one day about my autistic son. He wants him to join but we set a goal for him and wanted him to follow through with it he went behind my back and gave him a uniform and told him to dress for the next class because he gave him a free year, WITHOUT talking to me first. He shows off and yelled at my kids who were NOT talking in the "lobby" during a "class" threatened to take away their belts.

My 5 year old son joined the class few months and was going through a rough period having several behavioral problem. Sensei Basche, Ms. Mary and Ms. Hope paid extra attention to him and he loves the class and always looking forward to the next class. This is not just about Martial Arts kicking and punching; they teach you self defense, structure, discipline, family values and ethics. My son is hardly acting up anymore and he is a much better listener because of the teachings.

I recently spoke with the owner finally after several unanswered calls to his dojo and he was very arrogant! I asked a lot of questions regarding his class schedules for a beginner like my daughter and he was so vague! I could hear him texting as I spoke. It was clear he wasn't interested in talking to my husband and I. The only thing we took out of the conversation from him clearly was where to drop our payment! I told him we wanted to observe a class and he wasn't even there after he told my husband and I "he" is the only one that teaches the beginning students (tigers)? Very disappointed!

I have stopped By Steve Basche's DoJo a few times when class is in session. The room is very professional looking, clean and well organized. The students were interacting well with the instructor. As I have read many of the previous post, I noticed that some complain that students assisting others to get signed in and a few other things. IT IS GREAT to see a Teacher teaching others to take some form of responsibility. Helping others will lead to a greater sense of satisfaction to oneself. Learning to be Self Disciplined is one of the greatest thing that Martial Arts teaches. Thank You Steve for being the Professional Person that you are.

My cousin has been going to Basche"s Martial Arts for 4 months now and he loves it. He has written a young authors book on Sensei Basche talking about how he is the best Sensei in the world and how much he loves him. Sensei Basche is an awesome instructor and we could not ask for anyone better. He loves and cares about his students. He teaches them respect and self control and to me that is more important. If we had more Sensei's like Sensei Basche we would not have as many problems in the city of Fort Wayne. He treats us all with respect and we do the same back. He has helped my cousin in so many ways and that makes me feel even better knowing that he is in it to help the children. He has NEVER showed any kind of disrespect. Sensei Basche teaches children self discipline and to have faith in themselves. I would recommend anyone and everyone to go to Basche's Martial Arts.

Basches Martial Arts has helped my child in so many ways and he enjoys going there. As for the one making all of those false statements to try and ruin his company karma is a B****. My child has been there for the last 7 months and I recently signed another 2 yr contract with this company, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to take martial arts. again you are grown adults but if you couldn't afford for your children to take the classes then you had the choice not to sign the contract. Not showing up for the classes and ignoring phone calls to avoid having to pay a legal document and hiding like cowards is not the way to go and certainly not bashing his name or dojo.He would have been more than willing to help you in anyway,I personally know this first hand for I have called you and left messages and no return call back when your account was delinquent. It's people like you that make the rest of us that pay our bills suffer because you don't "PAY" yours this is why alot of companies raise there prices and THANK GOD that Mr. Basche decides to eat that cost. But nothing in life is free honey. He makes his living teaching these kids and does a good job doing it.

I have been more than pleased with Basche Martial Arts and Sensei Basche. My daughter has been a student since late Sept/early Oct. and has had self confidence and self esteem re-instilled in her through her lessons. She not bullied at school nearly as much now and is not afraid to stand up for herself anymore. I would most definitely recommend this dojo to anyone!

I have been reading the comments about Basche's Martial Arts and would like to comment on a few things. I don't know the people or the whole story behind some of the angry comments but I can say that I know firsthand that the school, mats and equipment are scrubbed regularly. There is also another comment about students responsible for signing in newcomers. These students are designated assistants and have volunteered to do these tasks.

He LIES A LOT! not just little white lies either. He claims its not about the money, but that's BS because my kids were in a free judo class With an amazing Sensei who took the time to know his students! If I'm paying this much money to someone I want someone who isn't showing off blowing smoke out his ass! There are better and cheaper places here in Fort Wayne!!!!!!

What a waste of money and time! The instructor is very arrogant and full of himself. With having some experience he doesnt even teach them basic skills, just throws the beginners in the with rest of them. Also since when do students become responsible for making sure the liablility insurance papers are sighned by new students? Shouldn't that be his job? I guess not since he is to busy in the "back room" the "the sensei" room with his ego.
