The Asian Arts Center (or Tobukan) is a great dojo that offers authentic traditional martial arts. Its karate program is Okinawan Goju-ryu in the lineage of Seiko Higa as preserved by the organization he founded, the International Goju-ryu Karate Kobudo Federation, headquartered in Naha, Okinawa. The Asian Arts Center's instructor is sensei Dong Tran, 6th dan, the U. S. Representative of the Federation. The Kobudo program is Yamanni-ryu, the original weapons system of Okinawa as taught by Shihan Toshihiro Oshiro; sensei Tran is 5th dan in Yamanni-ryu and the student of Oshiro Shihan. The Iaido program is Muso-Shinden ryu as taught in the U. S. by the late master Takshi Mitsuzuka. Sensei Tran is 4th dan in this discipline and a student of Mitsuzuka hanshi. The T'ai Chi Ch'uan program is the Yang style as taught in the U. S. in the 1960s by the late Cheng Man-ch'ing. The instructor at the Asian Arts Center is Dr. Robert Ante, one of Cheng Man-ch'ing's original students.
