I was in the area visiting family for a few days so I dropped in to do some training. The guys there were extremely friendly and welcoming to a guy just passing through. I would recommend the school to anybody especially beginners. They had an extremely patient and attentive style that would make getting into the sport a lot easier.

I have been training at the Ashland Jiu Jitsu Academy for about one and a half years. Great instructors who are patient, friendly, and informed. In addition to the highly motivated and skilled instructors, the dojo has a huge amount of space for rolling. Class sizes range from 16-20 on the high end to 3-4 some days, but either way you will have one on one time with your teachers. Only good times and no egos!

The gym is an excellent source of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has something for both new and old. I've been studying for 9 months and loving it here. Not only is it affordable but it is great value for your money. Everyone there is great and fun to roll with as well as safe!

Ashland Jiu Jitsu Academy is a very professional and technical school. We have been training with Brent on and off for three years now, and we can promote how professional and accomplished he is, not only in his own victories as a Jiu Jitsu competitor, but also as a remarkable teacher. If you are looking to step into the martial art world, Ashland Jiu Jitsu Academy is a clean, fun, and friendly oriented atmosphere. There should never be negative remarks about Ashland Jiu Jitsu Academy. Any one who makes negative remarks obviously does not spend adequate time at the school and is not a credible source.

The slanderous review is from a frustrated failed competitor.

The negative review associated with this dojo was provided by a gentleman who also attempted to post similar claims on other sites. He was immediately shot down on the Bullshido site who quickly pinpointed his location as coming from the computer of a local competing gym. I have been rolling here for over a year now and couldn't be happier! We have a tight knit community within our club, are one of only two legitimate BJJ schools in Southern Oregon, and have an extremely, respectful and friendly relationship with the other school(respect to Lotus Club!). Our instructors lineage is easily verifiable, as is his competition record. Also, he is a professional who is employed in the medical industry and is married with children. With that being said, homophobic rants have no place in today's world, regardless if they are false or not, grow up! Sad that someone would take the time out to write such negative remarks, IP addresses show where you post from, and it is easy in this day and age to be slapped with a libel lawsuit for attempting to cause such a defamation of character. The burden of proof is on the negative poster, if you wish to see what is provided at our gym, come by and roll. Ego is checked at the mat and I promise you will find everyone quite friendly.

I couldn't disagree more with the negative post, obviously Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, grappling or any other form of mixed martial arts isn't for him! I'm currently training for a fight there and couldn't be more pleased with Brent and co.'s help with my Jiu Jitsu game. I recommend Ashland Jiu Jitsu Academy to anyone looking to get into Jiu Jitsu.

Our 16 year old son has been going there off & on for 3 yrs. The instructors are top notch and the classes are excellent for both kids and adults. We moved to Ashland from So. Cal. & spent alot of time looking for a Dojo in the Rogue Valley. Ashland JJ Academy is without a doubt the best Dojo. The "poor" review is far from accurate.

Got a weird vibe off the instructor- My "gaydar" was going off bigtime- Really hot and stinky-
Head coach kinda weird- seemed like a poser. .. Kinda a gay vibe there too. Also, no bathroom and it was hot as hell with no AC upstairs in a big warehouse.
