At Arundel Aikikai, we do our best to teach Aikido with a positive training attitude, and approach classes with humility and humor. Aikido does not focus much on specific attacks and corresponding defenses. Instead, Aikido begins with the understanding that there are an unlimited number of possible attacks you could face. Any defense that requires a specific "move" for a specific attack is not efficient. Our minds can't handle the speed or complexity of this approach. We can't control or stop someone from attacking in any certain way. Ultimately, we can only control ourselves and how we respond. Through this control, we can affect change in our attackers. Are classes are conducted with the goal of learning how to move yourself in a martial way.
