This place is a money pit.

All I can say is that anyone who has had any type of previous martial arts instruction will immediately see this dojo for what it is. A money trap with subpar instructors. They force you into signing a 3 year contract that will cost you $300 per month for a "black belt program". I've never seen so many 10 year olds and under with "black belts" in my entire life. More than half of these miniature black belts have no clue what they are doing during classes. They're completely inept but somehow received a black belt by age 7. On top of the $300 per month you will be required to purchase an additional $500 worth of gear per family member. You will also be charged $50 per family member to "test" for your belts. They also offer "cram sessions" for testing that will put you out about another $100. If anything is good about this "school" is that kids will probably enjoy it. It's definitely not for adults that are serious about learning martial arts. They are definitely very friendly but that friendship is going to cost you. I'm telling you the truth about this school. I don't know how it has so many good reviews. I can only guess that most of the people giving positive reviews have never been in any other martial arts programs and are just not knowledgeable enough to know they are getting ripped off.

A great martial arts experience!

To start: I am not currently a student here. I am at college and have been unable to attend for the past year. Before I left I attained my second degree black belt and was well on my way towards my third degree. I enjoyed my time at this school greatly. The instructor is excellent and fun as are the other members. It has a great atmosphere and I would recommend this to anyone even remotely interested in martial arts.

Changed my child's whole attitude

I just love the way the instructor's at American Freestyle Karate work with the kids. They always make time to give each child personal attention. Not a day goes by when we aren't warmly greeted when we come in for class.

When my daughter told me she wanted to take karate I was a little skeptical because I thought this was going to just be another whim of hers that she would get bored with right away. I was blown away though when even now, months later she still can't wait to go to class!

Also, the instructors focus so much on character qualities in their classes that I noticed a difference with my daughter right away. After the first class she started saying "yes ma'am" and "no ma'am" and making her bed ON HER OWN (!) in the mornings, she's even treating her little brother more nicely! When she joined the Black Belt program they made her start doing different challenges outside of the studio before she could test for her next belt such as doing 50 acts of random kindness and then helping out around the house 50 different ways. I saw SUCH an improvement in her attitude.

I love this studio and the people there. I would recommend it to every family!
