I am a black belt in Aikido and Shotokan karate. I love my martial arts but haven't actively trained in over 10 years. I decided to take on martial arts again, as it's something I love and miss, and was very skeptical about mma and jiu-jitsu. I always thought those guys seemed more like fighters and less like martial artists. That is not the case at abmma, these people are true martial artists as well as great fighters. I feel mlike I've taken a new turn on my journey and looking forward to earning my next black belt in jiu-jitsu. Sensei Mike and Rob and Alan have already shared a great deal with me, almost overwhelming. Feels great to be a white belt again!

Recently I just had to move, but I trained in BJJ and MMA at the club. the instructors are outstanding, and the team spirit in their is what I will miss most. you really get to be a part of the family at abMMA. I've train in martial arts for a long time, and only wish I started with abMMA sooner. hate that there isn't one in alabama yet.

My son had some real bully issues at school. he was sensitive about it and didn't like to talk about it, but I could tell things were bothering him at school. he didn't want to go, grades started dropping and he looked sad too often. He expressed a little interest in martial arts so I brought him down a few months back. Coach Mike and Jeremy taught him the 3 "T's" and he has been back to his old self. I'm not sure what happened at school, but his grades have picked back up and he doesn't try to stay home anymore. Now he has been showing me some stuff, and I have an intro scheduled to do some kickboxing with alan. . . wish me luck :/

I could spend several paragraphs writing about the world class level of instruction provided by professional fighters in a variety of classes:
After quite a bit of training, I decided to take my first fight. I was understandably nervous. I thought I was ready, my coaches said I was ready, but it's still a scary thought to go put everything on the line, in a cage, in front of a crowd of strangers. But, I'd made up my mind to test myself, so away we went. The most important thing about ABMMA to me is the team environment. The night before the fight, we all went to Outback for a pre-fight meal. I haven't ever felt like such a part of a team, basically an extended family, in my life. And that's after years and years of countless team sports. There must have been thirty of us there, laughing at each other's stories about previous fights or weight cutting horrors and wolfing down everything in sight since we'd all just made weight earlier that day. Everyone seemed to care just as much about their teammates fights as they did their own, if not more so. The next day as I got my hands taped and eventually made my way to the cage, I was still getting advice from my teammates about what to do, how to handle the nerves. As I walked out to the cage, I was completely confident that I was ready, simply because I knew that I had trained with the best and that they believed in me. The confidence (along with all the hard work and great coaching) paid off. I won in the first round by arm bar. MMA may be an individual sport, but good luck getting better all by yourself. In some ways it's the ultimate team sport, because you absolutely have to have great training partners and coaches in order to improve your skills in such a wide variety of disciplines. At ABMMA, there is all of that. And we also have a team environment where everyone looks out for each other's well being.

I used to do kickboxing class here in 2012 and 2013 before I had a baby boy, and even for a little in the beginning of summer of 2014 before I just came back in august from health issues. I enjoyed the classes, always in the past, and felt they were god, but they weren't always consistant and organized. I felt like there was a lot of room for improvement there, but since I came back the classes have been on another level. I don't know what happened, but kickboxing classes this month have been the best ones ever. I had a fewfriends that lost interest and stopped training while i was out, I'm about to drag them all back in now :)

5 stars no question. I have never been an outgoing person, and going into this place was the most intimidating thing in the world. Once I got in the door they were great Anna was super nice, showed me around and taught me a great lesson, tomorrow I go back for my first kickboxing class, still nervous about it, but I think it's exactly what I need. had a blast today!

I'm very disappointed it took me so long to get my kids in here! I had heard it was expensive here, but the after school is less than I was paying the YMCA!! It's been 3 weeks now since I put my son in the after school program there, and I've already been getting better reports from his teachers, and he is listening better at home. He's not all the way there yet, but I've been real impressed with his attitude recently. He just told me, "Dad, could you please turn the volume on the TV down. I want to finish this report early so I can get extra time with Mr. South tomorrow in MMA". . . early? That was definitely not what he would have said a few weeks back! I'm very impressed so far.

I won a Free month as a raffle, which seemed cool, but later found out that I guess you can get a free month anyway, hence "runner up prize". Anyway doesn't bother me one bit, I had no idea something like this could be so damn fun! I'm an MMA addict now, started with kickboxing, but within a week I started going full blown MMA! Alan's class last night was a little packed, but the energy was insane.

I have nothing but good things to say about the training and people at Alan Belcher's gym, my family and I are hooked on it, but there is a lot of weight equipment that takes up space and I never see anyone use. I think the gym would seem bigger and less cluttered without it, it's a big space though, and I enjoy every minute of my training, worht every penny! Alan if you read this how about you cut loose some of the extra machines!

Never thought of myself as an athlete or a fighter, but it became obvious i need to lose a few pounds. My kid trained at abMMA for about 2 years before he moved with his mom, so I know alan and the guys there. they always tried to get me on the mats, and now that I finally am my only regret is not doing this sooner. Be assured I'll be back in class monday despite how sore I am still from yesterday! Beats any gym or workout I ever tried in the past by a mile

last night I did the MMA Class that Alan usually teaches. He was out of town in Dubai cornering Ben Askren in his title fight or something, but Coach Jerry and Lamart kept the quality up! I'm from New Jersey and trained in Muay Thai and BJJ there at an awesome school that has produced UFC champions and more. This place is every bit as good with instruction, and has a nicer facility with better equipment. I have nothing but admiration for the instructors here. After my first class a few months I didn't have to think twice about joining. They asked me to post about class on facebook, but I don't use facebook. Hope this works!
Also I'm wondering what place some of these people went here with the bad reviews. . . it wasn't the gym I train at. . . or Maybe it's a dude that owns another school or something.

I joined the Muay Thai classes at ABMMA. I did so with trepidation since this was my first time trying any such thing, and I had no idea what to expect from the classes and the people in them. Since that time I have found a part of myself awakened! I have had multiple instructors, all of which have been motivating, but patient and concerned about my progress. I don't miss the noon class on Tuesdays and Thursdays (although I have forgotten to sign the sheet a few times). Each time I find myself motivated and excited about what I am learning. I hate that I am not there more than I am because I enjoy being at the gym so much. I have found that I can trust my classmates as we learn to spar and try new things and that there is a sense of camaraderie among the folks at the gym. I am in a profession that requires a great deal of emotional and cognitive processing. This gym and the classes I am taking provide a huge outlet for that work. I will never be a competitive fighter, but I find your program to be immeasurably constructive to my well-being, and I am grateful. Well done.

I was here in biloxi for the past several months. Got to train at abMMA while I was here. Price was fair, with the military discount I can't complain, but you have to pay more to train unlimited, and to me what is the point without being able to train unlimited? Anyway, that is my only issue. I'm from a very prominent MMA and BJJ gym in california, and the instruction here was every bit on par with them. Alan was really cool to work with, and I also learned a lot from the other black belts there. Mike Sanford was particularly helpful with getting my leglock game in order, something I was lacking. My son and wife also trained while we were here, and loved their classes. Female BJJ instructor here is actually an IBJJF world champion, which was a pleasant surprise. Anyone coming to this area, this is the best option in the area for sure.

I did a review earlier in the year where I had a problem with my sign up. I was unhappy with a couple issues, but was given strong incentive to continue training, and since my opinion has changed. I think they should be more clear on a few things in sign up, but other than that the staff and instruction here is good.

Can't say enough good things baout this place. Alan has been really cool, even taught class for my son yesterday and gave him a stripe. My son and I both competed for the first time in a grappling tournament last week after only a few months here, and I got first place, my son got 2nd place!
I couldn't be more happy with my choice.

I took my son in for a free trial class because their online special was a reasonable price. After he finished the class the sales rep told me we were not eligible for the online special because he did the free trial class and I had to pay for the month since he tried it out, before we left that night I paid because I trusted that was helping me out. He tricked me and now I am not able to be refunded a month of classes, and because I ended my contract less than 24 hours of signing it my son can not take the classes we paid for. This place is a scam. Dont waste your time or money.

Family has attend 2 years, price keeps going up. With every new member. There management is interested in making money more than insuring customer service. Some instructors are AWSOME, some are not. Will be some good grainy but prepare for drama. Most of the punching bags in one of the rooms need filling. As soon as my 2 year contract is up, I am leaving. Sorry Alan!

Been training here a couple months now, and love it. I came to the area from the west coast, and was really surprised to hear Alan Belcher had a school here. I have always been a big fan of Belcher, and now training at his school is like a dream come true. Had an awesome time meeting the brazilian jiu-jitsu world champion that teaches there too, Daniel Moraes. That guy is awesome. Everyone here has been really cool and encouraging. Joing Alan Belcher MMA Club is the best choice I ever made, I hope they build another one closer to me in east ocean springs- it's worth the drive though.

This is the best place I've ever been too, and I've already put up quite a few reviews here for good places, and have traveled around the country and trained in a lot of awesome gyms over the years I've been involved with MMA. I sincerely believe that in a few years Alan Belcher MMA Club will be a gym name people hear about nationwide. The people here are great, the training is awesome, and Alan is really invested in the school always making improvements, and adding new features!
With that said Alan is like top 4 in the UFC, and others here fight for strikeforce, and bellator. He sends kids and adults to compete in large grappling tournaments around the country and is having a ton of success also. There's 9 years olds here that have won championships in 6 different states! I wish I had a place like this back then...

This place is just amazing. Huge open training floors and a full size UFC cage right in. I already loved wrestling, but this place helped learn a more fun way to hit the weights and also get into striking and MMA. They teach almost everything here too, there really isn't anything to complain about. Joining Alan Belcher MMA Club was the best decision I ever made
If you're anywhere on the Mississippi Gulf Coast near Ocean Springs / Biloxi / Gulfport / D'Iberville definitely check this place out. There is a 30 Day free trial too.

I started training in kickboxing at Alan Belcher's gym about 5 months ago and I've already lost 30 pounds!!! I can fit into clothes I never thought I'd wear again, like my prom dress from high school lol. The instructors are really motivating and helped me even after class. I've got another 10 pounds to go to reach my weight but I know I'll get there soon!

I started at belcher's when i was a kid, but stopped for a while, kinda got in with the wrong crowd, got in some trouble. anyway I'm an adult now, wanted to do something fun to keep in shape and get back to training and earning my black belt. This place gets better every year. Love the new classes and the family environment here. very happy to be back
