Reviews of Aikido Kimori Dojo Study Group of Visalia

Prior to joining this dojo, I had never taken any martial arts. I wanted to be active in a sport where I'm engaged physically and mentally, and so search began of different dojo.

I started in April. 2013 with Aikido Kimori Dojo Silicon Valley Branch with monthly seminars and Aikido Study Group of Visalia study sessions at Farley Taekwondo Dojo, with a Tue. & Fri. evening commitment. I practice regularly with other novices as well. The people I train with are great, and so are the instructors along with higher ranked brown & black belts.

The monthly seminar teachings of Aikido Kimori Dojo Silicon Valley Branch style Aikido are taught by Hiroshi Matsuoka Sensei. Other black belt sensei-instructors teach and assist. During seminars both the sensei and other black belt sensei-instructors teach and assist by go through techniques with me, with repetition and often with specific guidance on ways to improve. During study sessions, we warm up and stretch, and then we pair up with various classmates for 45 minutes and partner-in-training go through techniques.

The instructors and classmates are incredibly patient and kind. Everyone is here to improve themselves and help others, and we all improve at our own pace. While it's amazing to see what the higher-level practitioners of Aikido can do, every once in a while I look back and am amazed at what I've learned in my time at the dojo.

Thanks to my husband who had always wanted to take martial arts, Aikido is a great art to begin your practice. I recommend Aikido Kimori Dojo Silicon Valley Branch style as a beginner.

This group of students receive top quality instruction on effective Aikido. Their curriculum comes from Kimori Dojo in Japan and they are affiliated directly with Hombu Dojo. They regularly practice open-handed, weapons, and suwari waza techniqes. They also practice out of a well known Tae Kwon Do dojo that is very family oriented. If you are looking for effective Aikido and a thorough curriculum, this group is definitely worth looking into.
