The world we encounter today is rife with examples of discord and disharmony, enmity and conflict. Aikido is a martial art, to be sure, but its philosophical underpinnings are those of harmony and the peaceful resolution of a conflict. The aikido student will discover the means to resolve conflict within himself first, and then with the world around him.

I have studied the martial arts for over thirty years, and I have known many instructors and dojos in that time. Greg O'Connor's dedication to his art is overshadowed only by his dedication to his students. The dojos are clean and safe, and the people I have met are dedicated and sincere. The atmosphere in the dojo is friendly but serious, and due to the aikido way of non-competitiveness, the only "victory" to be had is the victory over oneself.

The study of aikido is rigorous to be sure, and a wonderful means to improve one's well-being and health. I recommend in the strongest terms a visit to one of Aikido Centers' many locations to experience what this art has to offer.

Our school follows the traditions of Old Sensei, the founding father of modern day Aikido. I have been a student for fourteen years and have found my training to be safe, thorough, and I have made many long time friends here. Being an older Aikidoist, I have found the level of instruction takes in account ones size, age and physical ability. Senior and junior partners work together in harmony with respect for each other. There is little competition with the goal of working with one's partner on the mat and sharing the techniques which have proven to be successful both in and outside the dojo.
