Aikido of Gainesville
Aikido of Gainesville teaches two styles of Aikido, Iwama Style (sometimes referred to as O'Sensei's Style) and Nishio Style. The Iwama Style teaches a good foundation emphasizing escape from strong attacks and executing reliable techniques. Nishio Style is more flowing while still emphasizing strong techniques.
Tom Huffman spent 6 years in Japan while stationed there with the US Navy. He was able to study directly with Morihiro Saito Sensei 9th Dan head of the Iwama Style, and his son Hitohiro Saito 7th Dan. Tom also studied extensively with Shoji Nishio Sensei 8th Dan developer of Nishio Style Aikido a very fast flowing style. Tom teaches the Iwama Style as basics and the Nishio Style as advanced. Both styles have a strong basis in weapons studies.
