The first thing you see when you walk into the Agoge is a huge cage, the next thing you see is Daniel or Dusty. Both of these guys are super friendly and know their stuff. There are many people who come and help out, so one instructor can fill out what another lacks. Each person has their own background that is as varied as a MMA gym should be.
The Spartan Fighting Alliance makes frequent shows around town too. This a great opportunity for those aspiring to be fighters. There's a few fitness classes for those who just want to get in shape. The cost is also pretty Reasonable for martial arts, at 5 dollars a day, or 50 a month, or anywhere in between. Go spar any Tuesday or Thursday for just 5 bucks. That's my favorite part. I love sparring.
Now for some criticism. Basics are good, and there is a heavy emphasis on basics. Still, The place is new and lacks structure, so often times a new student can get lost in a sea of basics. There is a lot to learn and you may learn some only to go back and learn more, and more, and more... Its enough to be overwhelming, and it is.
The alternative is having a ranking system, but there isn't any thing like that at the Agoge. I am glad there is not a belt system at the Agoge, it keeps people honest with themselves. I like that.
