The Academy of Martial & Internal Arts is Santa Cruz's oldest and longest-running studio teaching traditional and authentic Chinese Martial Arts. Director Ted Mancuso brings over 50 years of experience teaching, performing and writing about these arts. All of the instructors are certified, senior teachers—there are no second year students teaching first year students.
We believe that Chinese martial arts is a human cultural treasure encompassing health, medicine, self-defense, physical movement and intent. The average student stay in a martial arts school in the US is 3 months; our average stay is 5 years. We teach only adults (16+) which allows us to focus studies on genuine participation for each student.
