This guy. He teaches martial arts at my 8 year old son's elementary school. At the end of each class he makes the kids recite that they will treat everyone they meet with respect, courtesy and kindness, yet he humiliated my son in front of his school/classmates and their parents when he waited until the very end of class and while all the other kids were lined up to receive their belts or to level up, simply said to my son, "you're not getting a belt. " and that's it. Left him standing there confused, embarrassed and becoming visibly upset. Now don't misunderstand, I don't expect my son to get a belt if he did not earn it, but to wait the whole class and leave him standing there, the only one not getting a belt, and effectively humiliating an 8 year old is unconscionable and a horrible example to set for the students and I'm not sure that behavior falls anywhere on the "respectful, courteous or kind" spectrum. I'm afraid this guy may have ruined martial arts study for my son altogether. Good luck to anyone who takes his class. Oh, he also always keeps the class over, well past the time the class is supposed to be over, which he may think is some kind of "added value" but in my opinion it is not very kind or courteous and definitely not respectful of others' time.
