I love this school so much, I’ve been training here since I was 5 years old and I’m 15 now. Sensei Marc and his team / family of Black Belts are talented and work with children of all ages very well. I feel that every belt I have earned I have worked hard to earn. I highly recommend them. Recently an instructor left and left a few unfavorable reviews, I would encourage this person to remove them and reconsider all Sensei has done for him and not leave reviews out of spite. Sensei holds us accountable for our actions and guides us when we fall short, even when his instructors fall short he holds them accountable. This I respect. They should respect it as well. Personal and fake reviews are a spiteful attempt to ruin a dojo that has served the area for over a decade. Shameful. This is a wonderful dojo

A wonderful place to learn and grow. Five Dragons is one of the cleanest, safest dojos I have taken my kids to. The instructors are wonderful and diverse, during COVID the dojo has adapted to all of our safety needs. This has given my family the chance to get a great workout with great instructors. I have and would recommend this dojo.

I took a tour with Sensei Marc at the haverhill location. Within 20minutes he was already trying to convince me on a 6month contract deal. Could hardly promote his school, only his "successful career" as a Karate person. He said to of done all these amazing things but never was able to back them up with proof. He seem to care more about promoting those who pay the most and not show general concern for students overall.

Sensei Marc while being in business for for a long time, had very little training to offer. He always made the classes the same thing every day. There was never any changes in learning. After 6 months, you've pretty much learned everything you could. I felt that his Dojo will promote anyone to their next belt, as long as the payment goes thru. I have especially seen it in the students he favors more than others. Disrespectful place!!

An extraordinarily different martial arts education for children. Highly suggested, as your first preference for the entire family - especially children. We tried a few schools and only wish we tried 5D, 5 Dragons Martial Arts Academy sooner.

My two daughters have been under the direct instruction of Deshi Richard Comeau for almost 2 years now. 5 Dragons was and still is the only local dojo that willingly accepts children with special needs and teaches them in a manner in which they learn. Deshi Richard Comeau has gone above and beyond to learn techniques to reach my daughters who have multiple challenges, and he gave his word that he would never give up in them, especially on their worst days. His firm, yet gentle approach has instilled in my two daughters a sense of accomplishment and when they are able to apply what they have learned, the sense of pride in themselves is amazing to see. We consider Deshi Richard Comeau a family friend as he is always asking about our entire family and has helped us whenever able to. 5 Dragons has a sense of family that is hard to come by these days in any dojo and they truly believe in the basic teachings of martial arts and focuses not only what the student can do within the dojo, but their personal growth as well. It's not about the color if the belt a student achieves, but about their overall growth and comraderie in and out of the dojo. We hope to enroll our other two special needs children in the future and can't wait to see what the future holds!

My son has been a member of 5 Dragons Martial Arts Academy for 2. 5 years and I cannot say enough about the school. The instructors have helped him in so many ways - he is now confident, able to speak in front of groups of people, and performs well at tournaments. He is always excited to go to karate and has formed many friendships there as well. It is very obvious that the instructors care about their students and want nothing more than to see them succeed. Whenever I have any questions or concerns, I always feel comfortable going to Deshi Rick, knowing that he will do anything he can to help. He, in particular, has played an integral role in my son's growth, and I am excited to see what the future holds.

I would like to thank 5 Dragons especially Deshi Richard Comeau for encouraging my son and myself to come out of our comfort zone. An athlete is only as good as his coach and because of his great coaching my son has built his self-confidence, has a solid foundation for karate, self defense, and respect. Deshi Rick has helped his students find the courage to go to competitions and he has given them the tools and knowledge to win on many different belt levels. He has always made me feel very comfortable with all different classes and training styles my son has participated in. He started out as my sons karate coach but because of his caring and genuine interest in wanting his students to succeed he has become a family friend. Our experience with 5 dragons has gone way beyond our expectation especially their Salisbury location.

My family had a great experience at 5 Dragons Martial Arts Academy. We did not have a similar experience with Rick Comeau but more so the opposite. Rick Comeau contacted us and scheduled a private introductory lesson at no cost. We compared 5 Dragons prices to area schools and they were indeed the most competitive. We thoroughly enjoyed the initial lesson and enrolled. We were explained our agreement in full detail and knew we were making a commitment. We appreciated their loyalty reward program which reduced our monthly cost if we opted voluntarily to stay training longer. Sensei Marc is a very talented teacher and the academy is modern but still keeps traditional feeling alive. 5 Dragons offers many free or low cost events that are very exciting for my child and the students in my child's class. We loved participating in their free 15, 000 egg hunt that they sponsor We are proud to be apart of 5 Dragons and hope our children continue to black belt.

I had the same thing happen as the review below. My child was no longer interested and did not want to attend. Tried to talk to Rick and he was very condescending and rude and ignorant. Refused to let me get out of the contract. Also he will not allow any other form of payment than getting your account info and debiting your account for his money. Well I put a stop payment on his agency and have contacted the better business bureau to report his business (lack of) practices and will be notifying the attorney generals office as well since he still continues to try to take tuition from acct and my child has not been back for atleast 6 months!!

Great Sensei But Poor Business Practice & Confrontational Owner

Sensei Mark is a great guy and is excellent with the children. However his business partner that controls the $$$ & contract end is less than honorable. In the 1. 5 years my son has been going there. There has never been a price list of any kind to speak of. Often times parents purchasing the same items are charged different prices. When these discrepancies are mentioned. He gets very mad and somewhat disrespectful towards you. Between the 2 owners, there is great disconnect in terms of the direction of the school. The $$$ owner is turning a one time very good school into a Mc. Dojo money machine. Contracts are being rolled out with lengthy requirements and hefty cancellation fees. Prices are going up regularly. It is too bad. Like I said. Sensei Mark is a good guy with honorable intentions. He just choose a poor business partner.

This school is modern martial arts instruction mixed with a traditional Japanese karate curriculum. My children ages 3 & 5 love the little dragons program. I have a daughter age 8 in their Brazilian Jiujitsu program and I cant say enough about theier BJJ program - professional, teaches lifeskills, and real world application as well as tournament prep. I would highly recommend this school. Jake and Jess Milano

Very clean and modern dojo. Checked all the studios out in Haverhill and found this one to be the best fit. Friendly staff and low monthly tuition rates coupled with a no long term contract policy sold me. My son has been a student at 5 dragons for 9 months and has grown leaps and bounds so far.
My children have been training with Sensei Richard Comeau and Sensei Marc Hicks for years. The above reviews are not true, I can tell you first hand this is a school full of talented Black Belts including World Champions and National Champions. The reviewers (who we know - we’re disgruntled parents) they were given a discount on lessons in exchange for their loyalty agreement. I know how it works, we all signed them to save money - it was a choice. Unfortunately, when children decide they are quitting it’s upsetting to the parents to have to be a parent and teach their children honoring their commitments and reaching their goals is how life goes. It’s sad to see a couple of dissatisfied parents try and ruin the name of a great dojo.
I can tell you from first hand experience, both owners are fantastic work with and we have never had any money deducted that we didn’t authorize. The reviewers are the same family and they were just mad they couldn’t get their way. Unfortunately
We were never charged different prices, many of the family would ask Sensei Rick for pricing for an item be unhappy with that price and go ask the instructor (who teaches - not sells equipment) for a lower price. They would beat him down on price until he gave in. That’s why they got two different prices. I sat in the lobby and watched this family pull their shenanigans - We were all so thankful when they left.
This is a great dojo - try it!
