Talk about a school with personality!

I've been with SAGA for maybe 6 years now. I started with my 3 brothers and sooner or later got my dad to join. SAGA isn't a big school and yeah, sometimes the small size can be a bummer, but hey, it's still growing.

Pros: SAGA has some of the friendliest fighters! No pressure into things you're uncomfortable with. Everyone is willing to help each other excel. Some wicked fighters with strong technique! You're bound to have a fun time.

Cons: Maybe not the biggest school~ Unfortunately, no dressing rooms. (we do have bathrooms to compensate tho)

Now, i've gone to a few other places and found that many other schools have a strict system for rolling. Some schools only let white belts fight white belts. Or won't let them fight at all! NOT AT SAGA. We learn together! White belts fight blue. Purples fight black. Whatever. We just share a love for the martial arts. It's not just a sport. It's part of our lifestyle.

And we always love it when new faces join us!

Blessed to have found SAGA

We found SAGA Combat about a year ago and we feel so blessed as a family to have them in our lives.

The teachers are helpful and open with the students, the class room is large and well maintained. The staff never tries push equipment or contracts on families, which was a big change for us.

We've noticed some great improvements in our kids at school and home, and we look forward to being with SAGA for a long time.

There are really only three reasons I left saga, the first was the fact the place is very dirty and they don't clean the mats, the second being that there are way better schools in the area, and the number one reason is because the staff there seem to think that roger carol is the one that invented BJJ, all you hear is roger this and roger that, "oh roger calls this move the chunky monkey, or the mouse thumper, Dude hellio gracie invented that move 60 years ago and that's not what its called. . ! ! !

If caio terra or kron gracie showed up im sure the people there would ask him to pay a mat fee and start telling them how roger invented the worm guard and its now known as the raccoon trap, and as for all this karate hate going on. ..kadakacke is not a real system, its something kim Duncan hobbled together, I trained in it and it is basic moves you learn in any system.

I am a parent of a former student, Scott teach way to many techniques in one night, my child could barley get to try the move out once with his partner before he would Yale break, then move on to another drill, he also needs to cut back on how many moves or techniques he shows, slow down, allow his students to practice the drill a few times, learn the moves so they can apply them correctly, also the gloves stink, the school could uses new brooms, a major cleaning and update, some white paint on the walls Would give the place a fresh look, put some new carpet on the walk area, it looks like something that been there 30+ years, clean the place up and make it look like Mr. Carroll school!

SAGA's mixed martial arts training is the most realistic in immediate area. Having both a standing / ground game is critical in self-defense. SAGA students spar each night which allows application of skills taught. Scott & Janelle (married) are great role models for children. Their patience & enthusiasm transcends to the children. Your child will not be bored with the instruction. Your bank account won't be drained. Intangible : both are college educated

Options = train & spar at dojo with OPTION to enter contests

Striking & Ground = Total Package

Belts, limited sparring, no sparring, learning traditions, languages etc has its place. It simply comes down to what you want your child to attain.

THIS SCHOOL IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO TEACH THE KADAKA SYSTEM-

Mister white is a kadaka ru black belt under mister Duncan, we all know mister Duncan upset because the school's are very close, but I have trained at bot schools and they are 100% different teaching mister Duncan is 100% a karate school and teach you how to disarm a person with a knife or gun, or self defense, standing, mister white teach more of a attack first, position, ground game, lets be honest most fight hit the ground, Scott school is a sparring and grappling school it more realistic

I have rolled with them guy's and girl's and it is a very tuff school, if your looking for a place to teach you how to kick and punch in a mirror but you never really get to feel what it like to kick or punch some one who is punching and kicking you back, go find another school. This school is 100% full contact very good instructions, you well learn sell defense very quick, I have try other schools in the area and all I can say is I bought fell asleep from boredom

Competitive Jiujitsu...

I have cross trained with this team on and off for years when I need to mix it up with training partners. Coming from a hard sparring/rolling BJJ/MMA school, you get very sick of visiting a school claiming a grappling game and getting watered down bad Japanese jj and half baked judo. This isn't the case here.

They roll every class, they have advanced students who take pride in their training. They go to tournaments regularly. Theres a great positive buzz every workout.

You've got to love the place. The SAGA Dojo has more mat space than anyplace I've worked out in, they have a cage to train in, hanging bags, loaner gear, pads, and uniforms to lend. On top of this, their prices are half of the next cheapest school. My whole family can train there for the same price I was paying for just myself at the last school I attended. Thats for training six days a week, and three different instructors. So glad we found them
