Impressed, So Far So Good, and Unfair Reviews

I have been very favorably impressed with Mike Storms, both the person and the dojo. We have only been members for a couple of months, but so far the experience and results have been fantastic. My kids love it! We love the fact that the program does not focus just on the practice of the art, but extends beyond into critical aspects of our children's lives.

I also want to take the opportunity to address what appears to be unfair reviews of Mike Storms on this site. It is pretty clear that ONE fairly under educated, butt hurt person left TWO nasty reviews. With the small number of reviews here, this unfairly skews the dojos overall rating. This is the main reason I felt compelled to share my experience even though we are so new to the program.

Mike Sorms Karate - Truly a Life Changing Journey

Our 5 year old son has been a student of Mike Storms Karate for 2 months now, and if we could rate our experience better than "excellent”, we would.

As parents, it’s amazing to witness the physical, mental and social growth our son has undergone in just two months from only 2-30 minute sessions a week. The physical training has been much more than learning how to kick and punch in self-defense situations. It has noticeably improved his brain to muscle coordination, balance, listening skills and self-control. From a disciplinary perspective, he has become more attentive, confident, goal oriented and determined. The overall training provided at Mike Storms Karate, has reinforced our ability as parents in helping our son develop into a stronger, more principled and well-mannered young boy.

We’d also like to point out that in just these past two months, Sensei Chase has become a highly regarded role model to our son. His teaching technique keeps the students focused and on point, provides clear instruction, and motivates them to want to learn more. Our son looks forward each session to not only learning new skills, but knowing that his hard work will earn him another stripe and get him one step closer to the next belt.

In just this short amount of time, our son has come a long way and we are very proud of him! More importantly, he is proud of himself and learning more and more, the value and benefit of hard work, respect and discipline!

In summary, Mike Storm Karate truly provides both students and their parents a life changing journey, and we would highly recommend the experience.

Instruction to help you succeed - Priceless !!!!!

I began my journey with Master Storms in 1989. As his longest student, I have been blessed to share much time and many life experiences with him. I know him well. The heart of a man is where he is motivated by beliefs to form values and choose actions to meet his needs and assist others to meet theirs. I believe Master Storms to be motivated by life's highest values and that his life's calling is to share those values with the community around him. His fervent quest for knowledge to facilitate growth and transformation at every level has been tireless. Because of his dedication, many lives including mine, have been and continue to be enriched.

Mike Storms Karate offers everyone a safe place to learn and grow. It is an optimum positive environment that teaches discipline for forming the foundations of a happy, healthy life, as well as authentic Martial Arts Instruction. Students are provided equal opportunity to attain the goals they can "envision" and "work" for. After life long study and learned expertise, Master Storms designed his dojo to follow this way. Happily, as with everything in life, we get to choose our level of commitment, participation, and experience

I enthusiastically recommend the Mike Storms Karate experience for you and your family. The rewards for "whole hear-ted" participation are eternal

Respectfully

I know this is really unorthodox, but I just had to swing by to say that Master Storms is the BEST BOSS EVER!!!!

1. I am a 23-year-old who is allowed to spearhead my own business ideas from start to finish. If I come up with an idea, Master Storms encourages me to go for it. And he's letting me do all this experimentation with his business. He supervises, of course. But still! It's awesome.

2. When I mess up, he NEVER makes me feel bad or stupid about it. As a matter of fact, the first time I did something wrong, he just looked at me and said, "Ok. Thanks for letting me know. " When I didn't know how to respond to his obvious non-irritation, he said, "What? Do you want me to yell at you for doing one thing wrong out of the hundreds of things you do right?"

I am still flabbergasted by that. Master Storms' character is of a caliber that I find to be very rare, especially in the business world. His positive attitude and integrity shine through all that he does, and I am so grateful to be part of such an amazing team!!!

Happy 51st Birthday, Sensei! :)

An amazing program, and I'll explain why in my experience

If you are ready to commit to change and stick with goals, the program works. If you have trouble doing these things, you won't get as much out of it. The staff and instructors are great, caring, attentive people (as is Mike Storms). But Mike Storms holds you accountable when you make a commitment. He gives you your belt only if you've earned it. He doesn't sugar coat things, but that helps you and your children grow in the program. As an adult I learned to handle issues in my life in a more mature manner, especially parenting issues. I also learned how to be a better business person. My family and I have participated in Karate at the dojo for over 7 years. Mike Storms is genuine and sincere. He truly cares about his students. He's not perfect and sometimes makes mistakes--he's human. But he's always given me and my family sincere advice and help in any area we've asked. Oh, and I went down two dress sizes in the first two years (after I got serious)!!! Go in and judge the program for yourself. I wouldn't have traded it for anything.

Outstanding Karate Program

The experiences that are provided in the review by P.Simon are the polar opposite of what my family and I have encountered in Mike Storms Karate program. The program teaches self defense skills to students--both children and adults. The goal is to learn how to defend oneself through the use of common sense before having to actually use karate on a person. Master Storms is available and interjects his teaching into the classes. However, the program is also about developing leadership skills and controlling one's attitude. The best way to do that in any educational setting is to provide opportunities for the students to become leaders and instructors. Therefore, Master Storms has provided opportunities for students who have attained the rank of black belt to teach the classes using the skills taught by Master Storms. It does not matter what profession one is in--if the boss is always doing the leading, the students (and employees in other professions) will not learn how to be a leader. The growth in my son in terms or maturity and becoming a leader has been phenomenal due to the structure of the program.

My experience with the contract has been simple. I was told that it was a three year contract at so much per month. It has never changed. Additional opportunities in the leadership college, kids pizza night, summer camp, and parenting classes all carry an additional fee. However, I prefer it that way rather than having costs built into the fee structure that my family may not use.

This is a quality program that provides positive growth opportunities for children especially. I regret that not all people are satisfied, but that is life. For me, the lives of my family have been immensely enriched by the Mike Storms Karate program.

You will get exercise here. The classes are all ages crammed into one space!! No testing for belt promotions, just show up sometime! They constantly are coming up with new instruction gimmicks to get more money!Oh they are pushy about registration and signing that contract, then they've got you, and try to ask a question, maybe later, or not. This has been a disappointing experience, and some routines aren't true to what accredited schools teach, probably why they are not accredited! So look around, all ages should not be together, thats certainly your 1st red flag! Good Luck to you.
